We are looking for a dedicated Fire Safety Manager to lead and manage our fire safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with all statutory and non-statutory regulations. This is a strategic and operational role that requires a proactive approach to fire safety management across all our properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of fire safety strategies, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and the Building Safety Act.
  • Operational Management: Oversee fire safety management, repairs, and improvements, ensuring high standards of legal compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Advisory Role: Provide professional fire safety advice and support, including out-of-hours assistance for serious incidents, in conjunction with the Health & Safety Team.
  • Policy & Compliance: Review and update the Fire Safety Management Policy, ensuring alignment with legislation and best practices. Manage FRA remedial works and ensure robust systems are in place.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work with residents, leaseholders, and other stakeholders to address fire safety concerns. Support the Health & Safety Team in liaising with enforcing authorities.
  • Monitoring & Improvement: Develop and improve dashboards for monitoring FRA actions, ensuring timely completion. Establish mechanisms to maintain property information for compliance.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and support team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance. Provide training and development opportunities to build organizational capability in fire safety management.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of Fire Safety Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and related Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Proven track record in fire safety management within social housing or complex organizations.
  • Strong leadership and change management skills with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly.
  • Experience in managing fire safety compliance, conducting and auditing fire risk assessments, and responding to enforcement notices.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on innovative solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent in a property/building related discipline, or 5 years relevant construction industry experience.
  • Recognized Building Management or Fire Safety qualification (e.g., CIOB Level 6 Building Safety Management, BSC Fire Safety and Risk Management).
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g., IFE, FPA, IFSM) and NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management (desirable).

Key Activities and Outcomes:

  • Strategic Planning & Implementation: Develop and implement a comprehensive fire safety strategy and action plan. Establish clear goals, timelines, and performance measures.
  • Communication & Resident Engagement: Develop a communication and resident engagement plan. Build understanding and drive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Management: Provide strategic leadership in fire safety management. Implement changes to support teams in resolving fire safety delivery issues.
  • Training & Capability: Develop and implement a training plan for fire safety management. Provide ongoing training and support to build organizational capability.
  • Monitoring & Continuous Improvement: Establish a monitoring and evaluation framework. Foster a culture of continuous learning and seek out best practices.
  • Resource Management: Manage the allocated budget efficiently. Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure alignment and resource optimization.
