HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is one of the largest government departments, with more than 63,000 staff. Our customers include nearly every UK citizen and business and every day we collect more than £1.2 billion in revenue and pay out more than £109 million in benefits and credits. Every year we process a staggering 974 million customer transactions. We have one of the largest property estates in government which is constantly changing and whilst we have rationalised much of our portfolio there is still much to do.
It is an exciting time to join the organisation. We are currently going through an ambitious and innovative transformation programme, including a £200 million investment in digitisation which will fundamentally reshape the nature of our business. We are also committed to delivering a better service for our customers whilst also delivering sustainable cost savings.
We are looking for a new Director, Estates and Support to join our team, who will be excited by the scale of our challenge able to help shape and build our future. The scope of our transformation is vast and it is fair to say that we are about to enter the most dramatic period of time that we have faced in our history which was outlined in the Chancellor’s most recent budget statement with the forthcoming introduction of digital tax accounts. This is a stretching opportunity for an outstanding individual to make a difference in one of the largest, most complex and diverse organisations in the UK.
You will be a highly credible and influential leader, comfortable working with senior stakeholders and have a demonstrable track record of leading and transforming a property portfolio within a large-scale and highly-complex organisation. You will have a thorough appreciation of the risks and opportunities that transformational change on our scale brings and place people at the heart of what you do. Credible with diverse range of stakeholders, with strong influencing skills, you will be resilient and collaborative in your approach and able to contribute corporately to how we do business.
